Schedule 9, the prohibited tier, holds substances such as ibotenic acid, and ibogaine is deliberately not there. Noribogaine, its active metabolite, is also Schedule 4.
Scheduling is not the same as availability, and that is where the practical answer lies. A Schedule 4 listing sets the legal control tier; it does not mean an ibogaine medicine exists on the Australian market or that any Australian clinic offers ibogaine treatment for addiction.
